James Fox is the founder and principal of Mackinaw Management.

James earned his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BA from the University of Minnesota.

James studied finance, entrepreneurship, and strategic management during his time at Booth. While there, he was drawn to companies providing top-notch services and lasting products. With an interest in longer-term hold periods and lasting growth, James founded Mackinaw Management to find businesses to acquire, operate, and grow.

Before founding Mackinaw, James was the CEO of a medical nonprofit. He has spent time living and working in Hanoi, Vietnam as well as organizing projects in over 15 countries. He has been drawn to business as long as he can remember as his father owns his own company.

James is the father of two young sons and loves to snow ski.

Mark Hackman Brooks is currently the chief operating officer for a Mackinaw corporation. With experience in the healthcare sector, Mark has focused on supporting the IT and sales teams to enhance the company's marketing position.

Mark holds an MA from Northwestern University where his research experience led him to business analysis and leading the intern team at Mackinaw Management.

He is professionally inspired by his father who owned his own company for over forty years. Mark has two young daughters and enjoys skiing with them.

Our Name

As people from Michigan, we chose the name Mackinaw Management because Mackinaw is a place of strategic importance.
